Project Life: Week 3

here we are again.
each week my love for this project grows & grows. It is really amazing to share it with J, our friends and our family, everyone has really taken to it. J said to me yesterday "why dont you ALWAYS do this?" :) it LOVE to see our small details captured.i used a full sized 8x10 page on the right, friday on top & saturday on bottom. i have box of "go to" PL supplies (labels galore, flat sticker letters, SMASH, etc) but it is really proving to be a great stash killer for all the misc "perfect" bits to add to each day! (fabulous added bonus)
This week: gorgeous MLK Day, Skype with J (case in point: PERFECT little rainbow from KI Memories for the Skype. love it!), a gorgeous sunrise, Positive Action at school, "Beauty & the Beast" 3D and Starbucks breakfast date with my boy. (why hello again October Afternoon CB piece. you are proving to be handy!)
and thats week 3. Week 4 is gonnabe a fun one, i already know. there has been alot of shenanigans in my crazy life :)
thanks for reading! please leave me a comment with your PL pages as well. i love them all!

i could scream it from the rooftops. such a wonderful feeling to document throughout the week and see it all come together. All my friends and family already love the concept and first two weeks. the PL community is a great one: i LOVE reading PL blogs and looking through the Studio Calico gallery. such amazing inspiration!

(yep, thats my son's face concealed by an October Afternoon Sasparilla chipboard piece- haha!)
I loved starting off with the "halfsie" and since i had a cpuple of pics i really liked from our Riverside sunday brunch, it basically became a quick 6x12 page :)

Project Life: Week One

Happy New Year sweet friends! Its mind blowing how quickly 2011 came and went. What an incredible, life changing, whirlwind year it was. It was full of change and it was amazing and here's to 2012 topping it! :)

It feels good to be back to blogging, i fell off the wagon a bit in 2011 and aim to resolve that :) I have so much to share, so many moments and layouts and all sorts of eye candy!

First up, Week 1 of Project Life.
words completely fail me on happy i am to have started PL this year. I have been intrigued by the concept the past few years but it just never felt .. right to start it in the previous years. Its hard to put into words, but this was THE TIME. and just one week in- its already amazing. Picking supplies and developing a system ,seeing the recap layout come together.. so fun. I'm already excited about the upcoming week ;)

i purchased the Cobalt core kit, cardstock & album, as well as a plethora of various sized page protectors. I have a special area just for PL stuff, to keep the supplies relatively simple, as to not imperede to creative process each Sunday night. besides the Cobalt kit, i have LOADS of journal cards, tags, Smash items, washi tapes & date stamps. I plan on doing a "PL Products" post, at some point in this adventure.
SO, this week: drinks on New Years day, writing letters & making cards for my brother-in-law in basic, back to school, J trip to CO, tons of happy mail & a gorgeous day at the park :)

Cant wait to see what this New Year brings all of us!
Happy 2012!
XOXO

Sketchbook: Sketch 4

I seriously love doing these sketches so much. they are so inspiring.. i fully intend to do all 12 sketches all over again- with totally different results I imagine :)
here is my take on Sketch 4
"Keystone Lake"
As most of you know, J is spending the summer backpacking around North America with his BFF. it has been an amazing adventure so far- its incredible to see what each new day brings. with all our modern technology, we are able to speak & text almost every single day, & they both take loads of pics (camera, phone, ipod, whatever) and get them to me somehow (text/email) so i can document the trip on my end. it has been so fun for me! using his commentary from texts or phone calls and keeping a running journal of their travels. def why we all scrapbook, right? to document these amazing experiences in our lives and share them with family & friends for generations to come.
I'm doing this travel album 8x8, which i am LOVING. i scrap 12x12 and 12x12 ONLY. so this has just been a creative BLAST. this picture is from OK- they guys spent 2 weeks here in Oklahoma in June. Along with our son, my brother & step-dad- they took a couple "boys only" camping and fishing trips. :)
I'll never be able to express how fun this page was to put together. lots of stamping. and it came together E-X-A-C-T-L-Y how i envisioned. love love love it!

i stamped the journaling box onto a Studio Calico "State Fair" tag with the journaling stamp from the "Whodunit?" kit. then i stamped the title with the SC Jett Alpha ("Napa Valley" kit) with JBS "Chicken Feed" ink & then embossed it with copper ZING! it matches the foil stripes of the PP perfectly :)
next, i cut a circle from an October Afternoon "Rocket Age" paper very specifically, to get the cute stars and leave room for the moon. the Man in the Moon stamp is Studio Calico ("Paper Moon" kit) and i used a great white chalk ink, to give the whole thing exactly the soft white look i was after! yay!

please keep checking back, i worked quite a bit ahead on Sketchbook so i have the next few pages all ready to post!

Sketchbook: Sketch Three

Um, whaaat?! JULY 1ST? how is this even possible?
i have BIG plans for July. a busy month- lots of events, travel, family in town and of course, fun scrappy projects up my sleeve.
Which of course entails continuing with Sketchbook 3. I'm seriously having a blast with the sketches. i feel like i could easily do 3-4 LOs per sketch. quite frankly, i just might do that. once i complete this initial 13, i might just go back and do 'em again. they're so inspiring! on to Sketch Three:

"So Peachy"
i made that peach cobbler last 4th of July. and just a few more days til i make it agian- mmmMMmmm! ;)

i call pages like these "Studio Calico Mutts" bc its a mash-up of kit products, retail lines, kit exclusive papers, etc. For this page the sun ray PP is SC paper from "Joyland", the chicken wire is CS paper from "Lawn Party". Also in the mix: several "Elementary" papers + "State Fair" die-cuts.

i hope everyone has a faaabulous 4th of July- its one of my very favorite holidays and i really go all out. i cant wait to hear all all of you celebrated! (pics! blog posts!)

Sketchbook: Sketch Two

oh man. remember April? the craziest, most insane-balls-to-the-wall-sleep-deprived-whirlwind that was my life? When we up & decided to sell our house & move on my bday (April 6th) and move May 1st? I obvs had NO IDEA that was about to be my life, so when i signed up for KP's Sketchbook class, I fully intended to participate daily. create, upload & post in a timely manner- as the sketches were delivered to me.
And that didnt happen.
seriously one of my first thoughts after The Decision, was "well poop. now i gotta put Sketchbook on the back burner" :(
Now that we're all settled in and i have carved out a scrap area for myself (oh, how i miss my pink Hello Kitty scrap room so!) i'm TOTALLY back on the Sketchbook wagon!

So here we go with my take on Sketch Two:

"Middle Eastern Feast"
this page was SUPER fun to make bc it put me WAAAY outta comfort zone. but to tell you the truth, i freakin love it! I used Studio Calico's "Into the Woods" kit + Jillibean Soup paper (the dots & the stripes) i distressed inked the kraft cirlces & painted the Jenni Bowlin chipboard stars with the JBS "Soap Powder" dauber.

as always- thanks for looking :) keep checking back, i have a busy-lil-scrapper bee lately. lots of good stuff & sstories to come :)
XOXO

Finally settling in and becoming more routine, flushing our summer schedules & events.. shopping like a madwoman (naturally) ;) I have even managed to carve out a scrapbooking nook & crank out some pages- which I'm dying to share! Sorry for the long absence from the blog/twitter/internet.. I'm def back in business and miss all of my lovely friends!
Here's to the BEST. SUMMER. EVER.
