Go Ask "Alice"..

if you know me, you know a few things. i love: pink, Hello Kitty, strawberries, and "Alice in Wonderland". ALL THINGS "ALICE". i collect anything & everything that tickles my fancy.
i have several copies of the book (my favorite being one illustrated by Ralph Steadman, the guy who illustrated "Fear & Loathing") i collect odds & ends merchandise.. i even have an ongoing 8x8 album of random "Alice" pages i've made out of quotes, imagery, etc. whatever inspires me about Wonderland.

of course i love the classic disney movie versionand as a girl, i LOVED the early morning kids show "Adventures in Wonderland" (way back when Disney was a pay cable channel like HBO)
and just this past December i was ESTATIC about Sy-Fy's reconceptualization miniseries "Alice". i really, really loved it.
a few years ago (2007) Heather and I threw a small "Alice in Wonderland" themed party. she was Queen of Hearts and i was The Mad Hatter (i made J dress as the March Hare, bunny ears and all!) she decorated her side of the room as the QOH's kingdom, i did mine as Wonderland- complete with a cheshire cat in the tree. these are some of my favorite scrapbook pages i've ever done. we intend to have another AIW party on a much grander scale (with Britty as our Alice) sooner than later.
so it should come as NO SURPRISE i am completely beside myself in anticipation for Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland". you can ask Heather, i havnt shut up about this movie for the past couple years. excited about the announcement, excited about the casting, excited as promotional pictures were released, excited when the trailer went online, excited over ALL the merchanise beginning to appear. Hot Topic, Disney Store, Urban Decay, collector Barbies. i am a marketers dream, bc i want it all! thank goodness my bday is right around the release date! ;)

as you guys know, in a little less than two weeks we're talking a weekend trip to Amarillo, to meet up with Heather and Britty. the reason being? to watch "Alice" together :) the crazy thing is, we chose Amarillo simply because its the halfway point between us (5 hours each way) but come to find out, Amarillo has a completely "AIW" themed Amusement park, called "Wonderland"! what are the chances?! i love to "theme" everything i do to the max (for real. im over the top) so finding that out was amazing. we are going to have an amazing time the whole trip! and then about 3 weeks later i'm totally going to see it with Taylor AGAIN when she's back in town. hot damn!

Funniest. Thing. Ever.

i have no words for how funny this was. Heather was in town, we were having a huge group dinner at Elephant Bar (mmm) it was the BEST time. Heather and i decided we want to take EVEN more pictures of ourselves. we get all posey & cute and then Jim2 announces that Heather's Express necklace looked like "a Mr. T Starter Kit". AND I LOSE IT. J kept taking pictures but i could not get it together. so so so funny.
i was inspired to finally scrap these photos by the current challenge at the
Handmade Love Challenge blog. Steph and Michele chose several gorgeous color swatches of browns and creams. i loved these colors!
i used:
- the red PP is Graphic 45
- the frame is Love, Elsie
- the quotes are olive foam"Cream Soda" Thickers by American Crafts
- the letters are puffy "Chit Chat" Thickers by American Crafts
- the "ever" letters are shiny metallic Sticko letters by EK Success

i've got alot of blog plans this entire week, so make sure to keep checking back!

2010 Scrap Goals

i have SO many goal, dreams, ambitions, inspirations for 2010, in every aspect on my life. i'm particularly driven in my scrapping and crafting and have set a few big goals to achieve & maintain.

1. 12 on the 12 year-long album
i posted this in the young scrappers thread, an idea i saw in Simple Scrapbooks about 2 years ago. the concept is to take 12 pictures on the 12th day of each month, all 12 months of the year. i love the idea of this! and it will be fun to have an ongoing album to work on once a month. i'm very excited to start next month and hope some of my young scrappers will join me! (*wink*)

2. work on my childhood layouts
i have done a handful of layouts of me as a child over the years (literally like 10, tops) and lately i find myself reminsicing about random things from my childhood i loved ("babysitters club" books, the park behind our old house, "saved by the bell", all my gymnastics training, etc..) and finding myself really wanting to capture the memories on layouts- whether i have photos from it or not. things i enjoyed, my favorite clothes, elementary-highschool, summer vacation memories, etc. with my son growing so fast he will be in school before i know it (in 2 years! eek!) i would really like to have my school years documented in some way.

3. princess party albums!
i dont think ive ever mentioned on the young scrappers thread but last april for my birthday (after a solid year of planning) 3 of my BFFs flew in and joined myself and other BFFs here in town and we had an ELABORATE Disney Princess themed party. we all wore costumes (i was Jasmine, Heather was Belle, Britty was Cinderella, Taylor was Tinkerbell, Tina was Snow White, J was Aladdin and our son was Dopey) we decorated the living room like a ballroom, had a castle cake made, had food, great drinks, i made princess dress shadowboxes, the works. the night before i hosted an all *PINK* baking party, again i decorated the house within an inch of its life (all pink) we all wore pink, maked xrated cocktails, and baked a dozen or so cupcakes each, each decoarted as our particular Princess.
they were in town for 5 days or so and needless to say we took HUNDREDS of pictures of each party, of each diff Princess themed outfit we wore, shopping at Tiffanys and Juicy, we even exchanged massive Princess goodie/SWAG bags. for xmas all last year i got each girl TONS of the great Jolee's stickers of their princess. i got Heather and myself the 12x12 pink album with all the princesses on it and Britty the 8x8 pink album with the Cinderella sketch on it.
but heres the deal: Heather and Britty dont scrap.
so ive promised them i will make their albums as i make mine. which THRILLS me, bc i loved the event, i love all the products, i cant wait to play around make each album different for each one of us. but that means printing hundreds of pics 3 times over and really banging this project out! its a big undertaking but im really, very excited for it! (another reason im dying for the [pink] cricut- all the Disney carts!)

heres just a couple of party pics, since i havnt shown my YS girls before:
Me and Taylor (Tinkerbell)

all of my Jasmine presents from my SWAG bag!

so expect to see many a Disney Princess and Little Leigh layout soon on 2peas! :)
happy new year girls!
